I totally got a parakeet. I went to Petsmart, because the other pet store was closed and they had no blue ones. Molly was okay with that though, because she thought the green ones were prettier. I hadn’t even thought about what to name a green parekeet though.

I said to Molly, “It’s name shall be Hulk.” Then I let it sit there for a second (the name sit there) and I decided Hulk was boring. Hulk boring.
Therefore, his name became Bruce Banner. The scientist who becomes the Hulk. That’s more obscure and not as boring. Not everyone knows who Bruce Banner is.. much like my wife… so it gives me a little nerd cred.
I kindly explained to Molly why it’s name would be Bruce Banner (this was all taking place in the pet store) and she got really excited and said it’s name should be Lou Ferigno. I was so proud of her.. now she has some nerd cred.
Who is Lou Ferigno?
He’s the guy who played the Hulk in the 4 year run of “Incredible Hulk” on network television. It ran from 1978 to 1982, which was before Molly was ever born. I watched it in re-runs as a child.
Of course, Molly really only knows Lou Ferigno because he plays himself on her favorite (favorite isn’t strong enough of a word) TV show, King of Queens.
Anyway, I’m so excited to have Lou Ferigno in the family!! He’s going to be here for such a long time and our kids will call him Lou and we’ll teach him to say funny things like “You won’t like me when I’m angry.”
It’s going to be AWESOME!!!

Okay so first I read that you want a parakeet and then the comments tell me you have one... Then I read that you bought the parakeet and the comments tell me it flew away. Your blog is one giant spoiler-alert.

That doesn't even make sense. I meant "I have no cerd cred." not "I no nerd cred." Wow.
That's very sad about Lou flying away. I hope he has some street smarts and can make it in this crazy world! :o(

Easily the most depressing post I've ever read. Especially since I had a parakeet growing up that looked just like Lou. His name was Peter. I admit, not as clever as naming him after the Ferigs... Which makes this story even sadder.
I think he flew away because you misspelled his name.
