Ten on Tuesday

Guess what folks.  It’s Tuesday and for some of us with a holiday yesterday, that means it’s Monday.  For more, Ten on Tuesday head over to www.rootsandrings.com

0.01×10^2. What was your best/worst day in math class?
I remember one time in elementary school, I was having a really tough time understanding fractions.  The teacher asked if it would be better to split a pizza into 4 pieces or 5 if I wanted to eat more.  I couldn’t figure out the answer and guessed five… and then everyone laughed.  It was terrible.

20×10^-1. Who was your favorite/least favorite math teacher? Why?
I can’t remember his name, but I had him for a couple courses in college.  It was Calculus 1 and Differential Equations.  Anyway, he was really nice and really good at explaining stuff.  However, I wasn’t good at understanding.

3×10^0. Is it okay to be bad at math if English is more your thing?
Of course, we’re all good at our own things…

0.4×10^1. How does this video make you feel?
I think that’s pretty darn funny.  Thank God it is satire.

500×10^-2. What do you like/not like about math?
I love math when it is easy to understand.  I’ve been doing a lot of analysis work at work and that’s always fun to see how things come together.  Always fun when a model ruins a theory.

0.006×10^3. What makes someone a nerd?
People say I’m a nerd.. I don’t like that though, because I just consider myself not one of the cool kids.

7×10^0. Who is the nerdiest person you know?
No one better say me.

80×10^-1. What is the nerdiest thing you’ve ever done?
I’m about to finish watching the entire Star Trek The Next Generation on Netflix.  It became available in the summer and I’m just wrapping up with it now.

0.9×10^1. Do you think GraphJam is funny?
I prefer strawberry jam.

10×10^1. Have you ever used math outside of school?
Yep.  I was in the weather field, which requires a decent amount of math… and then I‘ve been doing a lot of analysis work.

John this is just tragic.

I'd have still been your friend, for the record.

Who wrote this? I'm assuming Molly if this is the first time Next gen was watched. Because if it was John, then I am disappointed. Then again, you are much younger than me so it is highly possible you were too young to see it the first time. But my god man, it has been in syndication for forever. Of course, of this is Molly, then it is understandable since she hasn't fully come around yet.

I am a proud geek and nerd. I can't do math AT ALL. But the rest of the terms apply. Be proud!!!!!!

John wrote it... trust me, Molly wouldn't watch the entire series of Star Trek... nor would she watch 5 minutes of one episode. I've seen them all before, but it's been so long I didn't remember most of them. Took me about 8 months... up next is Deep Space 9.

Tina--
Trust me...John watched them all...multiple times when reruns were available.

When he was 4 he watched Spaceballs 8 times in one day. His sense of humor was set in stone on that day.

John's sister.

Sometimes I read an entire post and then realize it's not the person I thought it was.
